Family is the single most important thing in my life. As much as I love and cherish my clients, and the gift I’ve been blessed with, it means nothing without the loved ones in my life. I am incredibly blessed with the most supportive family, and loving children. On that note it’s family portrait season. Last year, my mom wanted to get everyone together in my family for a large group portrait. As it happens so often, one sibling or another, or one of their kids wasn’t available. Sadly we let it slip by. This past June my grandfather passed away. Even though we are still a family the sting of the loss make the portrait seem somewhat less important. I know in my heart this makes no sense b/c we are all still her and are of course still family, so if anything it should be a lesson as to why it’s that much more important. So why do we procrastinate on these things? Honestly I’m not sure. Well really the delay wasn’t on my end…lol. Life is crazy and busy and before we know it milestones have passed. Some people value pictures and others do not. For those of us that do, we really need to make sure that we take the time out of our busy lives to get these portraits done! It’s a pain, and the kids rarely cooperate, shopping, and finding the time to coordinate all the schedules. I know, I know, some people would rather have a root canal!! At moments like these thought it’s a blaring reminder of why it’s so important. Not only b/c we lose people in life, but b/c our kiddo’s grow so incredibly fast, and memories fade. I have these conversations every day with my clients on how much the kids have changed, and grown in the few months that it’s been since I’ve seen them last. I don’t know about you, but with all the daily stuff I have going on in my head, I hardly remember what my girls looked like when they were little, without going back and looking at pictures of them. Like I tell everyone I speak to about portraits, even if you don’t use me, have someone do them!
