Back to school!

For some of us the kiddo’s started back to school last week or today, while some reading this are scratching their heads in disbelief b/c their kids don’t start back for several more weeks!  It’s hard to believe the summer days slipped away so quickly here in Georgia.  A bittersweet reminder that life is short, and time is borrowed.  I don’t know how old your kids are if you have any, but for me the past 9 years has flown by, seriously, in the blink of an eye.  Yes, all the cliches are true.  Sadly, I’m fully aware that before I know it I’ll be writing blog posts about mine walking down the aisle (hopefully with photography as the priority of their budget..lol), remembering today.

So with that said, shouldn’t we preserve the memories of our kids youth?  This is a bit of a soap box for me, so bear with me.  Why do we settle for horrible pictures of our kids once they hit the school system?  I mean come on how many of you have school pictures that you just LOOOOVVVEEEE from when you were younger, or of your kids?   I for one have none.  I even prefer the picture of myself when I was 5, fresh out of the pool floaties and all, with a love bird on my head.  Yes, a bird..for real.  Why?  B/c that showed who I was at that moment.  My favorite senior picture of myself was on a purple laser light backdrop…seriously??  Thanks mom!!!  If only I’d realized then. lol.  Don’t do that to your kids!  These are the moments that you can never get back, and as any parent can attest, memories fade.  So my soap box is to capture your children as they are now, b/c you never know what tomorrow will bring, and today will be a distant faded memory before you know it!  Even if you don’t use me, find someone to take some amazing pictures of your kids.  You all deserve it, and will be glad for it later.  You cannot put a value on these images that are irreplaceable.  🙂
